Lesson 05Interview Skills
This lesson is about how to face a job interview with confidence using good communication. It explained that both verbal and non-verbal communication play a big role. Verbal includes how you speak and what you say. Non-verbal includes body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and eye contact. These small things can make a big difference.
The lesson also taught us how to prepare well—like researching the company, knowing your strengths, and being ready with clear examples to support your answers. We learned about the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure answers clearly. It also showed the difference between successful and unsuccessful candidates. Successful ones ask questions, smile, make eye contact, use the company's name, and give specific answers. Listening actively and responding properly is just as important as speaking.
We also covered how to describe our strengths, work experience, education, and future goals using the correct tenses. Finally, we learned what to wear, what to take, and what to note before attending the interview. Overall, this session helped us understand that interviews are not just about answering questions, but about showing our personality, confidence, and interest in the job and the company.

What was interesting
What was interesting to me was learning how much non-verbal communication affects an interview. I didn't realize that body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions make up 93% of communication in face-to-face interviews. That really surprised me. It made me understand that just knowing answers isn't enough—you also have to show confidence, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude through your actions. I also found the STAR method very useful because it gives a clear way to structure answers. These things made me think differently about how I should prepare and behave in interviews from now on.
